FPDA Index Down from January – The February FPDA Index produced a reading of 62.9, down from January’s reading of 71.6. This indicates the fluid power industry expanded at a slower pace compared to January. The broader ISM index showed a higher reading of 52.4 in February, down from the January reading of 54.1.
Sales Continue to Grow in February –Sales growth among fluid power participants remained surprisingly robust in February. On average, sales grew 22%, similar to the 21% growth in January. Distributor growth of 24% was down from 26% growth in January. Manufacturer growth improved to 19% compared with 17% growth last month.
2012 Outlook Unchanged – Fluid power distributors and manufacturers are forecasting 13% growth on average for 2012. This is a touch lower than the January average of 14% despite the lower average outlook.
